Bryan graduated from Stanford, yay! In celebration we drove straight to Utah where he spent the next month and a half, 6 days a week, 14 hours a day studying for the California Bar, boo. We made the trip to Southern California where he took the bar, yay! But didn’t find out he passed until November, boo! After Bryan took the bar, we took a trip to visit his brother in Alaska; vacationed in Vegas, where we stayed at our first five-star hotel (it was a steal!) and gluttoned at the The Buffet at the Bellagio; and then traveled back to SoCal where we visited SeaWorld, the San Diego Wild Animal Park, Universal Studios, and Disneyland, where we celebrated our 3-year anniversary. We then drove back to Utah, found out we were going to have a baby (yay!!!), camped and hiked at Arches and Zion’s, and spent the next three months bouncing around the country visiting family. Our road trip followed this path: Utah, Virginia, Missouri, Minnesota, and finally back to Virginia. During this time I gained an aversion to vegetables, and Bryan and I entered a vicious cycle: me eating the few vegetables I could stomach, Bryan mentioning them by name because he worried the baby wasn’t getting enough, me losing the vegetables I had managed to eat that day, and then repeating the process the next day and every day until I entered the blessed 2nd Trimester. Bryan started work at a law firm in Washington, D.C. on Halloween. In November we flew back to Utah for my sister Shelley’s wedding. In December we traveled to St. Louis to spend Christmas with Bryan’s family. We ended the year by celebrating our first New Year’s Eve alone together, pigging out and watching 2012.
